Brief Profile Under the name “Handmaids Berlin,” they work as an international independent Theatre company. It was founded in 2009 by Sabine Mittelhammer, Astrid Kjaer Jensen, and Ulrike Langenbein. They are freelance puppeteers who met while studying at the “Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts” in Berlin. Under the name “Handmaids,” they work as an international independent Theatre company and live in Berlin and Copenhagen. Their productions can be seen at European festivals. The production “Räuber Hotzenplotz,” performed by Sabine Mittelhammer, was nominated for the IKARUS Theatre Award in 2014.
