Citizens support the IKARUS 2026
Since 2002, the IKARUS has been awarded once a year by the JugendKulturService as a prize for particularly outstanding productions by Berlin's Theatres for children and young people. Due to the positive reception from Theatre professionals and audiences, this Theatre prize was given even more "wings" and has taken off to new heights since 2013.
With its endowment, the IKARUS is no longer just a non-material prize for outstanding Theatre productions, but also a promotion and encouragement of further artistic daring in Theatre work for children and young people.
The endowment is made possible by funds from the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family (Youth Jury Prize) and the support of citizens like you (certainist Jury Prize).

The changes to the IKARUS Award are intended to draw even more attention from the general public and the media to the high-quality children's and youth Theatre offerings in our city. The endowment of the IKARUS Prize and the consolidation of the nominations listed as part of the IKARUS Festival are important steps in this direction. The opportunity to take a concentrated look at worthwhile Berlin Theatre productions for children and young people within a few days offers Theatre professionals, the participating nominated Theatres and the interested public a forum in which current impulses and accents of the children's and youth Theatre scene can be viewed and discussed.
